It’s hard to find the legitimate data entry jobs from home when reading over the ads, but here are some ways that you can look and find the legitimate jobs easier.

Red Flags:

Do they want money for you to work for them? Legitimate jobs don’t ask for money upfront for you to order material. They may require you to pay for background checks, but materials? Almost never. So if they are asking you to purchases something – you may want to move on and keep looking.

They don’t have a complete mailing address. If it is a legitimate business they will have a mailing address that you could find in Google Maps – now not all companies will have the street address – but most should have it. Anyone can open a PO Box and have a business. But companies will have the street address. Although they may have their mailing address to the PO Box, you should be able to find a street address on the site.

They don’t have a phone number listed on the site. Legitimate companies will have phone numbers that you can contact them.  Everything should be listed on the contact page.

Before sending personal information to a website, do your homework., Check out the company by doing a google search and seeing what other people have to say about the company.

Skills that you will need:

You will have to have certain skills to do data entry jobs from home. You will have to have accurate computing skills. You will have to know how to operate the computer and save and open and modify files. You will probably be on a deadline with your work, and you will want to be sure you are proficient with a computer.

You will be kind of like self employed. You will need to be disciplined to be able to complete your jobs on time. Sine you are not punching a time clock, this can be easy to procrastinate and then you won’t be able to get your assignments completed.

You will need to be able to type quickly. Speed with typing will help you get your job done sooner, and you won’t get frustrated with all the typing.

Be sure that before you sign up for any data entry job that you read the fine print. Know how much you will be paid, when you will be paid and what is required of you before you sign your name. Never send out personal information until you know who you are sending it to. One way to earn money from home, is to do it online. This is usually never a get rich quick scheme, but rather a long process that takes many hours of work. There are several ways that you can earn from home online

Build your own websites – you make money from selling advertising, or having links on your site that you get paid for being an affiliate.

Selling your items on places like EBay, this way you will have to buy and sell items, it also includes shipping the products to the customers.

Writing- There are many sites that you can write for and earn money. Some places are Associated Content, Helium and many others.

Freelancing – you can do a variety of things when you freelance.

Blogging - Earn money blogging and using adsense on your blogs. You can start a free blog at blogger.com and start writing. The more traffic you get the more money you will earn. The nice thing about blogs is that you can write about anything and earn money while doing it. Add some advertising and you will earn even more.

Do you like to take photographs? You can sell photographs online or sell them for stock photos. You can also sell them at places like Lulu.com, cafepress.com or zazzle.com. These places will make t-shirts, cards and other items out of your photography.  You pay nothing upfront, and they will pay you as your items sell.

Write a book. You can write a book and have it published for selling on places like lulu.com

Hubpages and Squidoo Pages:
These places you write articles and submit them. You will make money off adsense that they have set up there but your main income will probably be from selling things on Ebay and Amazon. Both of these places will have RSS feeds coming in from these sites that you can sell other people’s products and earn a percentage from them. Hubpages allow you to use Amazon and Ebay, while Squidoo uses Amazon. These are great tools that will help you increase you income. You can write about anything and even put links in the articles that will get people to come back to your blog. You can sell things from Clickbank, or Commission Junction from here, and make even more money. The nice thing about Hubpages and Squidoo pages is that it is indexed in a few days from Google. You can have as many hub or squidoo pages that you want to increase your income. These pages are easy to set up and easy to maintain.

Pay Per Post and Blogsvertise:
Write about assignments that are posted on these sites and they will pay you. They both pay by paypal, and give detailed instructions about what the requirements are to write about things. This is easy way to get your blog to pay you back.

CafePress stores:
Upload several designs and set up a free store that will sell your merchidice. They will print your design on t-shirts, cards, and other photo gifts and you just collect the money once it sells.

Zazzle.com
This is a store much like CafePress. Free to set up and sell things from it.

Lulu.com
Here is a free site that you can sell ebooks, printed books, calendars, and stock photos. This is easy to set up, while it doesn’t have a storefront, you can list these items on your hubpages, or squidoo and blog sites and they will handle the selling part and pay you the profits.

Selling Photos online:
This can be done from many places Lulu.com will let you sell your images, or put them in a book to sell. Dotphoto.com will let you sell from their site. Winkflash is another place that will let you sell online. There are many stock photo places that you just upload your images and they will sell them for you and send you the profit.

Affiliates:
Sign up at Commission Junction and you can put affiliate ads on your blog, hub and squidoo pages. These are easy to set up, you can also sell from ebay using Commission Junction.

Amazon Store:
Open one or several Amazon stores and sell their stuff on your website. This is fully customized to what you want to sell. You can chose from a huge selection of things that they have on their website.

Daytipper
You submit a short tip and if they approve it they will pay you $3.00. I am putting this here because they do approve some tips. But it will take you months before they will publish your tip and pay you. If you are patient you will get paid by them.

Zilo
Sell things from their store, and you make money. I haven’t tried this, and haven’t even researched this much.

GPT Programs
There are many of the programs out there that you do surveys and test sample things. Here are a few that do work and do pay.

Gangster greed:
They pay by paypal when you reach at least $10 payout. You don’t have to wait till the end of the month to request your payment.

They have a special bonus that you can earn $100 for completing the treasure map. Awesome place, pays monthly by check.

Shared Review:
Review free trial offers and they will pay you.

Upload videos
Metacafe will pay you for page views each time someone views your video.

CashCrate: Complete surveys and they will send you a check once a month. It only takes a few minutes to complete a survey, sometimes it’s as easy as just filling out your email address.

Treasure Troopers: Complete surveys, once you reach $20 they will send you a check or deposit right into your PayPal Account.

Ebay: Sell the things that you no longer need on Ebay and earn money quickly.

Craigslist: Sell on Craigslist. You can sell things you own, or look through the free section for things you can pick up for free then resell.

Associated Content: Write short articles about 400 words and they will pay you. You can get paid from them 3x a week if you have articles submitted.

Amazon has a program out in Beta Testing now where you can accept jobs posted by others and get paid for it. Its called Amazon Mechanical Turk (Amazon MTurk) .

This is real simple to use, you look for an assignment that you want to complete and just complete it. Once it has been accepted you will paid. There are many tasks available to do, some to write articles, do a podcast, post comments on a blog and other things. There is something for everyone there. The prices are posted before you ever accept a task so you know what that you are being paid upfront.
