Make lists:

Make a list of all the tasks that you want to accomplish that day. Usually I write it down on paper with Daily Goals as the title of the paper. This way I can cross off what I have completed and able to stay on tasks when I do what I need to get done. I also write on this paper other tasks that aren’t job related so That every morning I know what I need to complete with work, family and home life. It works well for me to know first thing in the morning what I need to complete.

I have a daily list, but I also have a monthly goal sheet that I have posted so that I know what I need to complete in the month. From the Monthly goal list I am able to then able to break it down to weekly, then daily lists. This will show you how well you are progressing for the month also.

Find software that will make your mundane chores and tasks easier to keep up with. Excel works well for me to keep up with goals and listings that I need to do. I also use Microsoft Outlook calendar that will pop up reminders for me when I have meetings and appointments. You can set it to tell you a few days ahead or hours ahead of time for the appointment and meetings so that you can be prepared. You can also write notes that you need to be reminded of for these meetings. I use it when I think about what I need to ask the doctors when I have a doctor’s appointment scheduled. I would be lost without it.

Limit distractions:

When working on a project, try to limit distractions and complete it before moving on to the next task. If you don’t you will have many projects started, and have a rough time to get back to finish them. Complete the projects when you start them. Work till they are done. If you get distracted they say it takes about 7 minutes to get back on task for that project. So you will want to work on the biggest projects when you have the least distractions so that you can complete it.

Make your lists and get your projects done and you will be more productive. Software that helps you stay organized and breaks down your tasks will also help with productivity. If you write allot then set up your word processor to automatically save every few minutes so that you don’t lose what you have already completed, keep files organized on your computer so that you don’t waste precious time looking for a file.

As you can see there are many possibilities that you have to make your skill or hobby a business that you can do from home. You start out with word of mouth and it will take you far. No matter what your skill is, there is probably a market for it that you can charge for.

Taking a hobby to a business isn’t that big of a step – once people see your skill and what you can do with it, they may be willing to pay for it. Red Flags:

If it is a legitimate business they will have a mailing address that you could find in Google Maps – now not all companies will have the street address – but most should have it. They don’t have a phone number listed on the site. Legitimate companies will have phone numbers that you can contact them.  Everything should be listed on the contact page.

Before sending personal information to a website, do your homework., Check out the company by doing a google search and seeing what other people have to say about the company.

Skills that you will need:

You will have to have certain skills to do data entry jobs from home. You will have to have accurate computing skills. You will have to know how to operate the computer and save and open and modify files. You will probably be on a deadline with your work, and you will want to be sure you are proficient with a computer.

What a call center representative does is product support in answering customer’s questions about the products that their company sells.  Also there are telemarketing call centers where you make sale calls or you can get a position in billing and debt collection.  When working in call centers every day is different with the type of calls that you get.

A typical day in a call center is where you will sit at a cubicle all day with a computer, a telephone, and a headset with a mouthpiece.  When a call comes and you take the call verify the information of the customer and answering any questions, resolve problems that the customer may have or do tech support depending on your job.  Sometimes you may get billing calls where you have to explain bills, and you can get payments over the phone and you may add or remove services from accounts are the customer’s request.  Once in while you may have to mail letters to the customer or facts and information are retrieved things from the fax machine. But the majority of your day is sitting at your cubicle.

While call center job is not physical work it is very stressful work mentally, some days you never know what mood the customer will be when the call in. Depending on the call volume at the call center you are working in you may take anywhere from eight to 200 calls a day.  Most of the time at the call center you will be talking for 8 hours a day with very few breaks game between phone calls.

Usually at the call centers when you get a job if you will go through intensive training on their products and services. They will tell you exactly what, calls to expect and what empowerment that you have to resolve their calls.  Customer service representatives are usually the front line for the company, and the one that the customer speaks to in the company. You are representative of that company said they will normally have you well trained for it your position.
